Antony Raymond

Antony completed his medical degree from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in the United Kingdom. He did his basic surgical training at Bristol Royal Infirmary and completed his orthopaedic specialist training on the University College London Hospital Orthopaedic Training Programme in 2019.

Antony has developed a specialist practice in lower limb sports and arthroplasty surgery. During his orthopaedic training in London, he developed a passion for sports surgery by working for renowned soft tissue knee surgeons Mr David Sweetnam and Mr Panos Thomas. He gained invaluable lower limb arthroplasty experience at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore under Mr Richard Carrington and specialist sports and trauma skills at the Royal London Hospital under Mr Josh Lee and Mr Peter Bates.

Antony won the international Orthopaedic Trauma Association travelling fellowship to the busiest trauma centre in the USA; Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas and then the esteemed Tampa General Hospital, Florida.   

Whilst in America, Antony completed an observership at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York learning hip arthroscopy and then returned to the UK to complete the hip surgery fellowship under Professor Rob Middleton at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Antony then managed to secure the highly competitive Perth Sports Surgery Fellowship in 2021 with Mr Peter D’Alessandro where he focussed on all aspects of arthroscopic hip surgery and soft tissue knee reconstruction. He finally learnt a broad range of the state-of-the-art skills in hip and knee arthroplasty on the Fremantle Hospital arthroplasty fellowship under Professor Piers Yates.

Antony is currently a busy Consultant at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust on the south coast of the UK, where his focus is on hip surgery as well as lower limb sports and trauma surgery.

Outside medicine, Antony is a keen sportsman and adventurer who enjoys rugby, kitesurfing, surfing and yoga.
